What does it mean to be an out-of-network provider?
What this means is that I, like most area psychotherapists, do not participate directly with insurance companies. Fees are due at the time services are rendered; clients’ payment information is retained in a secure electronic health records system, and invoices are automatically generated after each session. These invoices provide all the information necessary for you to submit a claim to insurance for reimbursement. I recommend that prior to the start of therapy, you inquire with your insurer about out-of-network benefits, and deductible requirements. I am happy to consult with you on this process, and provide you with language and common codes for yielding the most information from your insurance company.
Do you offer reduced fees?
In order to promote fairness and equity in the healthcare space, I offer a reduction of fees on a case-by-case basis. If the cost of services is—or ever becomes—out of reach, I welcome the conversation with new and existing clients.
Your Privacy Matters.
The Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires all health care records and other individually identifiable health information (protected health information) used or disclosed to us in any form, whether electronically, on paper, or verbally, be kept confidential. This federal law gives you, the client/client’s legal guardian, the right to understand and control how your health information is used. HIPAA provides penalties for covered entities that misuse personal health information. All clients are provided with a complete accounting of how the privacy of personal health information is maintained, and how it may be used/disclosed. For a summary of the Privacy Rule, visit the Health Information Privacy site of the HHS.
Good Faith Estimates & The No Surprises Act
Therapy is a process, one that ebbs and flows. It will at times feel difficult or easeful, stagnant or fluid. It may be short term or long term; it may have several chapters over time. We will collaborate to tailor the approach that best meets your needs, and in adherence to the 2022 Federal guidelines under the No Surprises Act, I commit to maintaining transparency about fees for services rendered; I will also provide Good Faith Estimates upon request. The baseline cost of an individual, 50-minute session is $200; sessions typically occur weekly, however schedules are determined on an individual basis. You may qualify for a reduced fee. Intake sessions and adjunctive services may incur additional fees, all of which are laid out clearly in the Therapy Agreement, which is signed upon initiation of services. As a client, your total cost will be determined by how many sessions you schedule and how you craft your approach to achieving your therapeutic goals.
